Weekly on Tuesdays at 4pm (60min class)
Current Aug-Sep Term Dates:
5, 12, 19 August
One week break
2, 9, 16, 23 September
Current intake is for ages 10-12. Enquire for other age groups.

This 7-week series blends contemporary and fusion dance with rhythm, breath, body alignment, and self-expression.
We’ll explore musicality, connected movement and creative expression in a supportive and energising space.

Each class includes learning about rhythm, different music genres and styles of dance and expression, including creative free movement, as well as dance choreography that builds week-by-week to complete one full dance to music. It’s recommended to attend each week consecutively where possible. A commitment to the full 7 week series will be required after Week 2 (12 August).

Each class is 1 hour in length and includes a warm-up and age-appropriate flexibility, mobility, strength/activation and breath awareness as part of learning to look after our bodyminds, as well as a mini closing circle for reflection.

1 class per week | $20 per class | No dance class experience required

Recommend barefoot* or grippy socks* (students can choose what feels best) and fitted, stretchy clothing to move freely (for example - leggings or bike shorts + tank or tee). Avoid dangly/bulky jewellery such as necklaces, earrings, rings. Bring a water bottle.

*Barefoot allows better grounding and foot connection
**Grippy socks are a great option for those who feel more comfortable with feet covered.

There isn’t a strict dress code—comfort and freedom of movement are the priorities.

More about Contemporary Fusion Dance:

  • Combines contemporary with other styles:

A class that blends contemporary dance with other genres - like ballet, jazz, hip-hop - allowing for versatility and adaptability, drawing from various techniques.

  • Diverse movement:

Allows dancers to explore a wide range of movement possibilities and music, combining contemporary techniques with elements from other styles.

  • Creative Expression:

Encourages dancers to be creative and expressive, integrating characteristics of each style and exploring the emotionality of music and dance.

In essence, contemporary dance is a style that prioritises individual expression, emotion and exploration of movement, while fusion dance is a broader concept of blending different dance styles to create something new and dynamic.

In bringing contemporary-fusion together with bodymind health and musicality, this dance class series with Jacq is an opportunity for individual expression and useful structured teaching.

Blending structure and freedom; technique and creativity.
